Happy New Year Everyone! I'm personally really excited about 2008 and the oppurtunity to expand the site and perfect our podcast with the guys. But most of all, it is going to be a great year for games. Like Brad, there are a few games that I forgot to mention during our awards show and will use this oppurtunity to give them some credit.
Best Artistic Design: While I stand by my decision to give the award to Bioshock, one game that definately deserves a mention is Folklore for the PS3. The game had a really unique artistic style that more closely resembles games such as Odin Sphere than anything else. While the graphics are not the most technically impressive, the way in which the developers combined an interactive comic book animation style with traditional polygonal graphics is impressive. The game really looks and feels like a dark fairy tale which is reason enough to nominate it for this category.
Best Multiplayer Experience: This is a category that we kind of ran out of time for on the show so I will go ahead and talk about my winner for 2007. This is a really tough choice because I feel the need to give the award to two totally different styles of game. On one hand, Rock Band deserves the award because it is the only game of its kind that really creates a completely unique multiplayer experience. It is unique because every person playing is playing in a different way because of the different instruments. This creates a sense of being in a real band which is an awesome feeling. On the other hand, Call of Duty 4 is probably the best multiplayer shooter game in years. I simply cant put it down and that is saying a lot. The amazing maps and the revolutionary perks system puts a whole new spin on a classic style of gameplay that simply can't be beat. I will be amazed if any game in 2008 is able to create a better multiplayer experience than COD4. So I will have to pick COD 4 and give Rock a close 2nd place. Honorable Mentions: Halo 3, Team Fortress 2
So thats all for now. 2008 is officially underway and I can't wait to see what the year will bring for us. Catch, ya'll later!
